Modern Wall Murals: An Expensive Look for Less

Happy Thursday! Today, I'm focusing on home decor.

Anyone who grew up watching Coronation Street in the late 1970s will remember Hilda Ogden and her beloved ducks wall "murial," as she called it. Since then, murals have come a long way.

Murals are a less expensive way to replicate the spendy look of hand painted wallpaper, like de Gournay or Gracie, which run around $1000 per panel for something relatively simple. I think they'd look fabulous in a dining room or powder room.

I love the chinoiserie prints like the Palazzo Green panels from Mural Sources. The photo below shows 5 panels at $319 per panel:

This Chai Wan Triptych, which requires 3 panels at US$199 each.

You know, I'm all over the blue and white Blue Garden.

I think they are so very pretty. I'd have a professional wallpaper installer involved as I imagine I'd make a mess of things.

Are you interested in murals, or is a trend you want left back in the 1970s?

Xx

  1. Ah, dear old Hilda! I think if you have the right space a mural could be lovely. You've shown some beautiful examples.
